Vestas receives 36 MW repowering order in Denmark

Vestas Wind Systems A/S has received an order for 36 MW of turbines for the final phase of the 94-MW Overgaard 1 wind project in Denmark.

Earlier this year, Vestas nabbed a 58-MW repowering order for the first phase of the same project. Once repowered, the park's capacity will quadruple.

The latest contract follows the project's successful participation in the energy-neutral auction held in November 2019. The Danish company will supply, install and commission ten of its V126-3.45 MW turbines, in 3.6 MW power optimised mode, at the site in Randers municipality.

The order has been placed by SE Blue Renewables, a joint venture between Denmark’s largest pension company, PFA Pension, and local energy company Norlys.

Delivery is expected to start in the second quarter of 2021 while commissioning is scheduled for the fourth quarter of the same year. The order also includes a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.

Vestas said Friday it has also secured a 42-MW wind turbine order in South Korea.
