Peterson supports the next generation with apprenticeships

Leading international energy logistics provider Peterson has kicked-off Scottish Apprenticeship Week by announcing a number of new apprenticeships across its diverse business.

Peterson is now actively recruiting individuals looking to enter the energy sector with modern apprenticeships available in business administration, warehousing and logistics. The programme offers apprentices the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge by gaining valuable industry experience from qualified professionals and mentors.

“We will celebrate our 100th anniversary later this year and it’s our duty to invest in our people and the next generation to ensure another 100 years of success.” 

Peterson has a strong track record in developing young talent with several apprenticeship graduates completing the programme and securing full-time positions with the company.

Portlethen Academy graduate Chris Carter completed his apprenticeship in 2014 and went on to join Peterson’s Freight Management business as Freight Coordinator. He was named finalist at the British International Freight Association Awards in the Young Freight Forwarder of the Year category and will celebrate seven years with the company in September.

Past apprentice Ryan Taylor worked in a range of departments across Peterson before being offered a full-time role as a Training and HSEQ Coordinator. Ryan is the fifth member of the Taylor family to join Peterson and together they share more than 50 years’ experience working for the same company.

We encourage staff to progress their careers by enrolling in internal and external training opportunities and to continue with their professional development.”

Current apprentices include Bradley Strachan, Andrew Mutch and Jay Milne who started their programme in 2019 as procurement apprentices with Peterson’s portfolio business 80:20 Procurement Services. Their journey through the programme is supported by modern apprenticeship and training providers JB Management.

The Peterson team has a busy week ahead with various activities planned. With the support of Skills Development Scotland and DYW North East, they will visit local schools to talk about apprenticeships, attend a reception at the Scottish Parliament and welcome local MSP Lewis Macdonald to the Aberdeen office on Friday 6th March.
