Keppel has won contracts in Brazil for topside work on a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel and in Singapore for conversion of an LNG carrier to a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).

The two contracts have a combined value of about S$70M (US$51M).

Brazilian subsidiary Keppel FELS Brasil will carry out topside module fabrication and integration for Modec Offshore Production Systems on Carioca MV30. This marks the sixth FPSO collaboration between Keppel’s Brazilian unit and Modec, and the 11th FPSO project Keppel has undertaken in Brazil.

The FPSO’s modules will be constructed in Keppel FELS Brasil’s BrasFELS yard in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro, with work scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of this year. Upon completion, Carioca MV30 will be capable of processing 180,000 b of crude oil and 212M m³ of gas per day, with storage capacity for 1.4M b of oil. Upon completion it will be deployed to the Sepia field in the Santos Basin, 250 km offshore Rio de Janeiro.

The contracting party for the Singapore contract was not disclosed, but was described as “a leading global operator of oil and gas production vessels” in a Keppel release. The FSRU conversion is the fourth that Keppel has undertaken. As well as repair and life extension work, Keppel will engineer, install and integrate the regasification module and upgrade the vessel’s cargo-handling system. The work has a targeted delivery date of end-2018.
