Industry Experts Lead New Training Service

Add Energy, the international energy consultancy, has launched its industry first training academy, specialising in drilling and well engineering, operations and maintenance, as well as safety and risk management. This announcement strengthens its commitment to upskilling and training workforces across the globe.

Led by experts from the energy firm, The Add Energy Academy has been designed to enhance knowledge and skills of workforces to enable businesses, which are operating across the energy sectors, to be safe, efficient, and effective.

The new academy has two new courses available – Relief Well Planning and NORSOK D-010 Well Integrity Standard Training, which is the first of its kind to offer e-learning modules based around blowout contingency and well integrity.

Courses have been developed to not only address skill gaps and upskill less experienced people looking to step into managerial positions, but also support the energy transition.

Terje Løkke-Sørensen, chief technical officer at Add Energy said: “Training has been at the heart of what we offer our clients for a number of years. The Add Energy Academy is an exciting next step as we continue to evolve our offering to suit industry demands.

“The team at Add Energy is all passionate about passing on key learnings and knowledge, gained from considerable experience within the fields we operate in. Many of our course leaders have over 30 years of experience, working in some of the most hostile and challenging environments. To be able to pass on this type of knowledge is a huge asset of the Add Energy Academy. We pride ourselves in not just the high calibre of trainers, but the excellent subject matter they have on hand.”

Delivered digitally through a combination of interactive sessions, workshops, simulations and meetings, the courses have been designed with delegates’ needs in mind, while ensuring they remain engaged. In addition to its digital courses, The Add Energy Academy also offer a blended training model with face-to-face classes.

Chris Quinton, well operations engineer at Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB), underwent the NORSOK D-010 Well Integrity Standard Training.

He said: “The eLearning modules offered by Add Energy are very useful training courses. They are applicable to not just junior well engineers, but to senior well engineers and even to managers who need to get an overall appreciation of the NORSOK D-010 standard.”

Mr Quinton went on to praise Løkke-Sørensen for his training ability.

He added: “Terje, demonstrates his vast knowledge of the subject matter. He includes examples of his own experiences as a well engineer to make the audience really think on how to apply the standard property.

“The modules themselves won’t teach you everything about NORSOK D-010 but it will show you how to apply the standard and walk you through the important aspects, the content and the flow of the document.  The final exam is built around well-thought-out examples, that makes you think how to apply the standard and use it in your career. It provides a great evaluation to demonstrate the audiences understanding of the subject and standard.”

Supporting new energies, leaders hope the courses will support the energy transition. Helping those looking to transfer skills into new energies – in particular, geothermal and carbon capture, utilisation and storage.

Løkke-Sørensen explained: “With our roots in oil and gas, we can clearly see how these skills are transferrable to the renewable energy sector.

“In order to meet the high demand for new energies, we urgently need a sizable skilled workforce. It is our hope that our training modules can support the transfer of these skills for new markets.”

The Add Energy Academy also offers bespoke training courses, tailored to individual organisation needs. This can include competency gap assessments to identify risk and determine where learning and development (L&D) investment should be made. Training can also be tailored for different levels within an organisation, allowing courses to enhance the relevance and the overall learning experience.

Competitively priced, the e-learning modules pass on cost savings to organisations who can allow employees to undergo the training from their offices or homes.

The Add Energy Academy’s Relief Well Planning and NORSOK D-010 Well Integrity Standard courses are open to book online now. A third course bundle, M100 Field Maintenance will also be available over the coming months.
