Further Global Ambitions Mark 40th Anniversary

Further Global Ambitions Mark 40th Anniversary

A leading Aberdeen-based electrical company has celebrated its landmark 40th anniversary by announcing overseas expansion during a visit by the city’s Lord Provost.

Founded in 1981, AEL (Aberdeen) Ltd has flourished to become an international brand providing first-class electrical and subsea products and services to the onshore, offshore, renewable, petrochemical, marine and industrial sectors.

From its global headquarters in Aberdeen’s Bridge of Don and regional hubs in Houston and Baku, the company offers a broad range of electrical products and services which are delivered by an experienced and committed team.  The international focus has been helped thanks to the development of activities by Alan Mackie, adding a second generation of the Mackie family to AEL’s story.

The latest location to be added to AEL’s growing global footprint is Mexico, where the creation of a local trading entity and the opening of an office are the most recent moves towards AEL’s revenues becoming equally balanced between domestic and overseas markets.

That unique mix of geographic spread and the continuity created by 100% family ownership are cited as key factors in AEL’s enduring success throughout its four-decade history. Further development plans are afoot to explore further foreign marketplaces, including Scandinavia, in the pipeline.

Alongside its global ambitions, AEL remains committed to its home city and it will explore new opportunities using the springboard of local talent and expertise which has played such an important part in fostering sustainability and growth throughout the company’s history.

Aberdeen Lord Provost Barney Crockett recently congratulated the company on its 40th anniversary by visiting AEL’s city headquarters.  He said: “I was delighted to join Graeme on this very special occasion. AEL’s reach in the global market has gone from strength to strength but it is evident that Aberdeen is still very much at the heart of their operation. I extend my thanks to all of the AEL team for their hard work and commitment. Best wishes for future endeavours, here’s to the next 40 years!”

AEL Chairman Graeme Mackie added: “For 40 years, the Aberdeen market has supported our growth and it continues to be a critical part of operations every day.  Aberdeen is still the hub of operations and the city is our corporate home.

“As we continue to explore new markets whilst strengthening our foothold in traditional ones, having the right people on board for the journey is very important.  We have seen first-hand the benefit of harnessing and nurturing local talent and this is something we seek to achieve wherever in the world we operate.”

Founded in 1981, AEL is an international brand providing electrical products and services to the onshore, offshore, renewable, petrochemical, marine and industrial sectors.  AEL has the global capability to offer a broad range of electrical products and services. AEL operates from a network of strategically placed international offices as well as its HQ Aberdeen. To find out more, visit www.ael-electrical.co.uk or call +44 (0) 1224 899133.
