FINALISTS ANNOUNCED FOR ICOTA INNOVATION AWARD 2018

Finalists have been announced for the ICoTA Innovation Award 2018. This prestigious award is presented annually at the SPE ICoTA Well Intervention Conference and recognises a service company or Operator for the application of technological innovation in the area of well intervention.

The award furthers the aim of the Intervention and Coiled Tubing Association’s European Chapter to improve communication and promote the value of well intervention solutions within the oil and gas industry.

This year’s finalists are BiSN, Interventek and Ocean Team Scandinavia AS. BiSN submitted its Wel-lok M2M technology which seals wells with bismuth-based alloys. The creation of this technology has made them the first and only company to successfully create metal-to-metal downhole seals using bismuth.

Interventek is shortlisted for its novel, field proven, subsea shear and seal safety valve – the Revolution valve. Conceived in response to an industry requirement, Interventek believes this technology has the potential to enable a step change in subsea reliability and safety whilst significantly lowering cost.

Ocean Team Scandinavia joins the list of finalists for its SCC02 Technology. The company uses a chemical solution to lubricate and bleed CO 2 into a control line to disperse blockages. The technology also makes it possible to clean long narrow pipes with turbulent flow all the way, a common issue for control-lines and umbillicals.

Jeff Fulks, Applications Manager of BiSN, said:

We are honoured to be a finalist for the ICoTA Innovation Award this November. It means so much to us and reflects how hard our team works to provide innovative and forward-thinking solutions, that produce real, tangible results.

Gavin Cowie, Managing Director of Interventek Subsea Engineering, said:

“We are delighted to have been selected as a finalist for the 2018 ICoTA Innovation Award. Winning this prestigious prize would be recognition of the significant improvements in safety, cost and performance offered by our new Revolution shear and seal valve technology. It would be an honour and a fitting tribute to our team’s hard work in developing and qualifying this technology over the last few years. We look forward to working with ICoTA and its members as we continue to commercialise different applications and develop complementary technology.”

Espen Kähler Amundsen, Managing Director of Ocean Team Fluidcare UK and previous Managing Director of Ocean Team Scandinavia A/S, said:

“We at Ocean Team Group of Companies, are very humble and happy for being one of the finalists. This is a big honor for all of us involved, just to get to this step. It has been a pleasure working with this technology and perfecting it (after it was invented by the owner Jens Peder Thomsen), to now seeing it out in the field, and getting acknowledge by the Oil & Gas industry. We now hope this can give us international acknowledgement, and get the chance to show what new possibilities this technology opens up for our customers, that has previously not been possible. In addition, the savings and more reliable systems, it can give.”

The winner will be announced at the SPE ICoTA 24 th SPE Well Intervention Conference on the 14 th and 15 th of November 2018 at the AECC.
