Electric Power Development (J-Power), JERA and Equinor have formed a consortium to develop offshore wind projects off the Akita Prefecture in Japan.
The consortium will see the three companies work together to evaluate and work towards submitting a bid for projects offshore Noshiro City, Mitane Town, Oga City, and Yurihonjo City.
This marks Equinor’s first offshore wind opportunity in Japan.
The parties plan to work towards bidding for the projects based on the Act on Promoting the Utilization of Sea Areas for the Development of Marine Renewable Energy Power Generation Facilities.
According to J-Power, the consortium will contribute to developing local economies and achieving a sustainable society by moving the projects forward with the cooperation of stakeholders and local communities.
