Engineered Composite Solutions secures 5-year contract with TAQA

Aberdeen composite repair firm, Engineered Composite Solutions (ECS), has secured a 5-year contract with TAQA. The deal will see the provision of its FutureWrap composite repair system across all TAQA’s UKCS assets.

ECS was established in 2019 by Jennifer Garside, Greg Innes and Professor Simon Frost, when it launched its FutureWrap range.  FutureWrap uses the latest resin and fibre technology to give excellent long term performance. The firm has enjoyed continued success since its inception and this latest contract will help ECS achieve its ambitious growth plans.

Jennifer Garside, Business Development at ECS, said: “Winning this contract is great news for ECS.  We feel very proud to be working with TAQA.  The security of having a 5-year contract will allow us to continue to build the business and invest in further product designs – it’s very exciting.  This is one of many contract-wins we have achieved in the last 12 months and we are delighted that the energy industry has welcomed FutureWrap for what it is.  Like all these things, it takes time to get the products out there, but now we are finding our clients are beginning to experience first-hand just how durable and reliable they are.  It is very humbling.”

FutureWrap took over two years to develop.  Early in the development of the technology, adhesion performance was identified as a key parameter to ensure reliability and durability.  Now, after three years of being used in the market, the product is proving to be one of the strongest in the market, and the company’s strong values and innovative approach are being used to develop new composite technologies.

Professor Simon Frost, Director at ECS comments: “The contract award from TAQA is further testament to the work undertaken by ECS to develop FutureWrap. To ensure excellent adhesion, factors such as resin viscosity, surface tension and wettability onto metal surfaces were optimised. This innovative approach is now ingrained into ECS culture and is being applied to new technology, currently under development.  It’s great to see the energy industry recognise FutureWrap as a key product in composite repairs and we’ll look forward to working with TAQA over the next five years.”
