Chair of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers for Scotland launches new book called: “Start your business in 4 steps”

The world has seen one of the turbulent economic periods in its history over the last few years and this backdrop has led to the emergence of a new ‘Gig-economy’, which has seen thousands of individuals utilise their experience and expertise to start their own companies. Whilst many have been successful, there is no doubt that this has been an arduous task for others and even those who have the “Niche “ skill sets that industry requires, find the fundamentals of starting a business and marketing it in the right way to the right people a challenging path to furrow.
Matthew Laskaj is the Director of Project Engineering Management Ltd and Chair of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers for the Scottish Region and has successfully started and grown his own business in the Energy sector. In addition, Matthew also delivers training and coaching throughout the UK on a range of topics including a coaching program entitled: ‘1-week business start-up challenge’.

Matt’s new book ‘Start your business in 4 steps – create, design, deliver and grow’ has been launched to help everyone: Create your idea, design your business, deliver an awesome product or service and continue to grow their business through innovative approaches so that you can make more money and spend less time doing it.

Matthew says “With the recent increase in redundancies and job losses, I wanted to be able to help people. One option when you are made redundant is to start a small business, either as a sole trader or a limited liability company, which can be done from your home and even on a part-time basis initially. However, there are many challenges and it can be difficult to know what to do and who to turn to for advice, so having been there myself I wanted to share my learnings in my new book, which I have based on a format in which I deliver training and coaching plans to help you start a business which has the optimum chance of success!”.

Matt’s book has been developed following a simple 4-step plan to help you decide on a perfect product or service and get it to market quickly by focusing on the things that matter during this crucial period.

The approach to start your business involves:

STEP 1: Make a PLAN. Decide what you are going to do and what you need to focus on.

STEP 2: Take ACTION. Set your business up for success by getting the fundamentals right.

STEP 3: LAUNCH and get FEEDBACK. The fun part is to tell the world that you are open for business.

STEP 4: REFINE and GROW. Make changes to improve your business and grow your sales.

Matt’s book is out now and available to download on the Amazon bookstore as an e-book from 18th August 2020. A paperback copy will also be available to buy soon.
