Aker Solutions to supply maintenance services for Vår Energi assets

Norwegian engineering company Aker Solutions has secured a contract to provide maintenance and modification services for Vår Energi’s North Sea assets.

The contract has a duration of three years and covers operation, maintenance, modification and engineering services. It will have an option for a total of two additional years. Aker will provide services for Vår Energi’s Jotun, Balder and Ringhorne assets.

The Balder field, which is located in PL 001 on the Utsira High, started production in 1999. Ringhorne is located in PL 027 and 169 E and the Jotun field is in PL 027 B.

Aker Solutions brownfield projects executive vice-president Linda Aase said: “The new contract award shows that our focus on HSSE and delivering top quality services is valued by our clients.”

The company will manage the work from its office located in Stavanger, Norway. Fabrication will be carried out at its facility in Egersund. Aker’s other locations may also be involved in the works.

The company noted that the value of its contract will be set by future call-offs by the operator and license partners. It, however, plans to book about Nkr600m ($65.4m) as order intake in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Vår Energi has also signed a similar frame agreement with Apply Sørco for modifications and maintenance support of its other assets.

Vår Energi contracts and procurement operations manager Annethe Gjerde said: “The scope of these contracts is instrumental to safe and reliable operations of our installations. I am pleased that the contracts have been awarded to two Norwegian contractors with such a strong track record on the NCS.

“Both Apply Sørco and Aker Solutions know our installations well, work along solid HSE practices and are dedicated to deliver at the highest standards.”
