Team of Oil & Gas Professionals take on 146-mile charity cycle

Fortress Energy has announced that an ambitious team of 40 riders will cycle a gruelling 146 miles in 48 hours in aid of the Amelia-Mae Foundation in September.

The global service provider which specialises in the provision of pipeline, process, and engineering services is based in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, and has organised the fundraising event in aid of their charity of choice, the Amelia-Mae Foundation.

The Amelia-Mae Foundation supports families impacted by Neuroblastoma which affects around 100 children each year in the UK. Neuroblastoma is the most common solid tumour in childhood after brain tumours and the foundation aims to create laughter and empowerment during the strenuous battle which neuroblastoma causes.

In the early hours of 26th September 2020, the 40-man team will set off from Blackpool and make their way through Liverpool before ending the charity cycle in Scarborough. Over two days, the planned route will see the cyclists navigate through the spectacular English countryside as well as the hustle and bustle of busy cities.

Martin Atkinson, Fortress Energy MD said: “With just over a month to go, training and preparation is well underway, and it has been a good excuse to work off the quarantine belly!

“It will be a tough challenge, but our energetic cyclists are excited to take part and all of the aches and pains will be well worth it to support the Amelia-Mae foundation, a charity close to our hearts.”

Amelia-Mae Foundation’s Chair of Trustees, John Murray, added: “We are absolutely delighted that the Fortress Energy team are tackling such a demanding challenge to help raise awareness and vital funds for our small charity.  We are extremely grateful for their ongoing support and wish the team the very best of luck.”

The main sponsor for the charity ride is Fortress Energy’s partner company Thortrium, providing accommodation, shirts and medals for competitors as well as support staff.   Drillmar and Enterprise Car Rental Other have also made significant donations, making the charity ride possible.

Fortress Energy is hoping to raise around £10,000 and the team’s fundraising efforts can be sponsored here:  https://www.gofundme.com/f/amelia-mae-coast-to-coast-challenge
