Venture Global LNG signed a long-term contract with China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) for the supply of 4 million tonnes/year of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for 20 years from its plant in Plaquemines, La.
Venture Global received permission from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to begin site clearing for its 20-million tonne/year (tpy) liquefaction plant in Plaquemines, about 20 miles south of New Orleans, earlier this month (OGJ Online, Nov. 1, 2021).
In addition, China International United Petroleum & Chemicals (UNIPEC), a subsidiary of Sinopec, will purchase LNG resources totaling 3.8 million tonnes from Venture Global's 10-million tpy Calcasieu Pass liquefaction plant in Cameron Parish, La. Commercial operations are expected to begin in 2022.
