Connections between the North East of Scotland and Norway will be more important than ever as energy transition opportunities continue to be explored – that was the message to delegates as a popular international business event made its face-to-face return today (Monday, June 20th).
The ninth Aberdeen-Norway Gateway, held by Granite PR in association with ONS and Widerøe, brought about a return to the event’s traditional in-person lunchtime format at Aberdeen’s Marcliffe Hotel & Spa.
Leading the line-up of eminent speakers on the day was ONS 2022 President and CEO Leif Johan Sevland and there were also video messages from Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway, Richard Wood and the Port of Hammerfest, as well as an array of business case studies featuring the likes of Widerøe, Motive Offshore, Add Energy and J+S Subsea. The event was chaired by Press & Journal Business Editor, Erikka Askeland.
Reflecting on the success of the 2022 Aberdeen-Norway Gateway, Leif Johan Sevland said: “It is always a great pleasure to reconnect with the industry and partners in the UK and Aberdeen especially. We see great potential in the energy transition around the North Sea, and the Aberdeen-Stavanger connection will be more important than ever.
“We have increased interest from even more companies from the North Sea area than before and are looking forward to the opportunities that will bring to the other companies with a long history at ONS. Both in oil, in gas, but also in a broader and more relevant energy industry than ever before. And with possibilities in Norway now, we can only imagine the potential beyond that.”
The Aberdeen-Norway Gateway 2022 was supported by Aberdeen City Council, Add Energy, British Embassy (Oslo), Department of International Trade, Energy Industries Council, Energy Voice, Invest Aberdeen, J+S Subsea, Motive Offshore, OGV Energy, ONS Foundation, Port of Hammerfest, Scottish Development International, Stronachs, Widerøe.
