Saipem has been awarded new drilling contracts totalling over $200m for work offshore in Norway and the Middle East.
The first contract will see Saipem drill two wells for German company Witnershall. The contract also has an option for two additional wells in continuity with previous engagements for operations offshore Norway, the contractor said.
This contract will be executed by the Scarabeo 8, semi-submersible rig capable of operations in harsh environments. The rig is expected to be under operation until approximately the second quarter of 2020.
The second contract will see Saipem extend an existing contract in the Middle East for the Perro Negro 7 jack up.
The four-year extension will see Perro Negro 7, a self-elevating drilling unit which had been contracted by Saudi Aramco since late 2011 for shallow-water drilling off Saudi Arabia , continue work.
Saipem confirmed work under the extended deal started at the end of the first quarter of 2019.
