Red Rooster celebrate 25 years of apprenticeship programme

Aberdeenshire based Red Rooster Lifting is celebrating twenty-five years of their engineering apprenticeship programme with the appointment of their latest apprentice.

The North-east lifting company’s newest apprentice who starts this month, was selected from ten applicants for this year’s opportunity which will be based at their West Bromwich site. A student at Dudley College, Maxwell Taylor will complete his level three diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering on day release as Apprentice Mechatronics Maintenance Technician with Red Rooster Lifting.

Maxwell will step into the similar shoes of Red Rooster’s original apprentice, Norman, who joined their Aberdeenshire base on day release twenty-five years ago. Norman is now a Technical Sales Engineer having previously started his apprenticeship in a similar role to Maxwell.

Bill Aiken, Managing Director at Red Rooster Lifting said: “Our apprenticeship programme is an important part of our business – supporting the industry with the next generation of workers as well as providing employment opportunities is crucial. We are continually impressed with the high standard and work ethic of our apprentices, which is why we have continued to work with NESCOL and Dudley College and offer employment opportunities once they have their full qualifications. We pride ourselves on investing time and knowledge in our apprentices, so they get the best out of their experience, and, feel enthusiastic in pursuing a career in the lifting equipment industry.

We hope Maxwell enjoys his time with us at our West Bromwich site, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Norman for his years of service at Red Rooster.”

Norman Smart, Technical Sales Engineer said: “I am delighted that the apprenticeship programme has continued through the years, it provided me with the hands-on experience needed to become successful in this industry. I wish Maxwell luck as he starts out in his career.”
