Oil and gas expert to grow Scottish market for Survivex and AIS Training

Leading offshore training provider, Survivex, has appointed a new business development manager in Aberdeen to support clients and raise awareness of its services and those of sister company, AIS Training, across Scotland.

Isle of Lewis-born David Newbigging, aged 39, will be responsible for promoting AIS Training and Survivex’s extensive portfolio of oil and gas, wind energy and industrial health and safety courses to Aberdeen businesses and those further afield to help develop competent and safer workforces.

David has a solid background in the global oil and gas industry having worked in senior business development roles for the past ten years with organisations such as the Global Energy Group, Iqarus and drilling fluid service provider, Focus Optimisation Solutions, formerly QTEC. During his time with Focus Optimisation Solutions, David was responsible for setting up its Middle East operations and establishing a strong presence across the Middle East and Africa regions.

Survivex and AIS Training are part of the 3T Energy Group and David’s first priority will be to get to grips with the Group’s extensive product and service range, which includes more than 450 competency and training courses approved by the world’s leading training bodies and market-leading technology such as simulators, virtual reality, e-learning and competency management and training management software.

David said: “Joining the 3T Energy Group is extremely exciting. The Group has a unique and highly innovative approach to business, which explains why it is fast becoming the world’s leading training and technology organisation. Survivex and AIS Training work very closely with their clients to truly understand customer needs and provide everything from online training management to free finance and on-board tailored training to help improve safety and productivity. I’m really looking forward to talking to Aberdeen businesses to find out how we can help them now and in the future.”

Commercial sales director at AIS Training and Survivex, Gavin Taylor, said: “We are delighted to welcome David to the team. He has exceptional knowledge of the oil and gas sector and a fantastic track record of building strong client relationships. We’re confident he’ll become a great asset for our clients and the wider business community across Scotland.“
