Ocean Installer Secures New Contract from Equinor

Subsea contractor Ocean Installer has secured more work from Norwegian energy major Equinor. The company said in a media release that it has been tapped for a new subsea line modification (SLM) project on Åsgard A.

In July 2023 Ocean Installer was awarded by Equinor SLM projects on Vigdis, Visund, Åsgard C and a morgrip connection on the new Northern Light carbon dioxide pipeline.

Ocean Installer won the Åsgard A project through a recent competitive tender. This project will be seamlessly integrated into the existing portfolio, managed by the current project team, and executed in conjunction with ongoing operations, Ocean Installer said in a news release.

The project scope for Åsgard A includes the recovery of two risers and the installation of a new riser and flexible jumper, as well as engineering, procurement and installation for GRP covers to safeguard the jumper. Offshore operations are planned to start in the autumn of 2024, Ocean Installer said.

“I’m very pleased to see that Equinor is adding more work to our SLM portfolio and their continued trust in us for executing these highly complex offshore operations. Integrating this project under the existing project team ensures continuity both onshore and offshore, maximizing the synergies for both Ocean Installer and Equinor”, Ocean Installer CEO Kevin Murphy said.

“The short time for engineering and procurement, from contract award to offshore execution this fall, is a testimony to the competence in our organization and close collaboration with Equinor”, added Murphy.

Earlier this year, Ocean Installer, through a consortium with Oceaneering, secured the second largest contract in its history. Ocean Installer has been tasked with the transportation and installation work of GIR FLEX project for TotalEnergies EP Angola and its partners for Block 17. The project aims to extend the life of the floating production storage and offloading unit to 2031. The FPSO has been producing since 2001.
