New Hires - September 2021 - Mage Control Systems

For almost five years, Mage Control Systems has enjoyed consistent growth of its staff group. Following what was a testing 18 months for businesses the world over including our own, we’re gladdened to be in that growth phase once again.

Throughout September 2021, we will welcome a further 3 engineers through our doors at Mage Control, taking the design team headcount to an all-time high.

Joining the team first in early September is Patryk Maciazek – a University of Glasgow graduate with an MSc in Electronics and Electrical Engineering. Patryk is joining the company as a Graduate Electronics Design Engineer in a full-time position. Already working closely with his teammates in our innovative in-house Electronics Design Team, Patryk is involved in one of our Aerospace client projects on drive systems design for high altitude UAVs.

Second to join our team was Fabrizio Catinella, beginning his time with Mage Control in mid-September 2021. Fabrizio, a University of Glasgow student of Computing Science is joining our impressive Software Team as an Intern Software Engineer. This part-time internship with the company will see Fabrizio join the team developing one of our first OEM products; a rapid, perpetual hand sanitisation device. You can read more about that development here: Scottish Enterprise Case Study on Mage Control Systems.

Finally, joining Mage Control at the end of September is Adam Vallance. Like Fabrizio, Adam is also a student of the University of Glasgow studying Electronics and Electrical Engineering. Joining his fellow UoG colleague Patryk, in the Electronics Design Team, Adam is welcomed to Mage as an Intern Electronics Design Engineer on a part-time internship.

These three individual additions to our engineering teams will bring added capacity at a critical time, as work and enquiries return to pre-pandemic levels. Overall, our investment in our workforce this year has seen the company hire eight additional engineers and one business support member bolstering our position as one of Scotland’s largest product design houses.

These recent positions could not have been filled without the commitment and drive for hiring locally and offering opportunities to the young workforce led by our HR Administrator; Maryam Ishaq. Through her engagements with management staff internally and supportive connections externally, Maryam has helped grow the team at Mage Control at an impressive rate.

Building strong links with the University of Glasgow, Maryam has worked closely with our Operations Director, Janet Menzies, this past year to present the range of opportunities available at Mage Control to those studying at and graduating from the University.

From the University, the company has been well supported by Internship Hub Manager, Sheena McBeth. Working closely with Maryam, Sheena has helped to facilitate the applications process for graduates. As well as administrative support and guidance, we were also delighted to receive financial support in the form of Santander funding for two of the three recent posts filled: this was made possible, thanks to Sheena.

Sheena had this to say: “It has been a pleasure to work with Mage Control Systems over the last few years. I have been very impressed with the quality of the internships they have offered and the support provided to the interns and all the students placed with them have provided very positive feedback. I have very much valued their support for our students during the pandemic when it has been much more difficult for students to find internships. I am looking forward to working with Mage for many years to come.”

We’re proud of the ties that now link the University of Glasgow and Mage Control Systems Ltd. With both company directors as Alumni of the university, this is a particularly special bond to have for the company. We are positive that we will continue to successfully recruit from the high-quality talent pool that the University of Glasgow delivers every year.
