KR Group and Bancon push on with Aberdeen One Logistics Park

KR Group continue to showcase high quality results with Bancon on the Aberdeen One Logistics Park, despite ongoing Covid-19 restrictions.

In August 2020, Aberdeenshire based Steel, Cladding and Solutions company, KR Group, were awarded works from Bancon at the new urban logistics park located in the Altens Industrial Estate, on the South side of Aberdeen.

Work on the prominent site on Crawpeel Road commenced in September 2020 with all teams involved, pulling together to rapidly respond to ongoing challenges, such as restricting numbers and enhanced risk assessment measures onsite due to the pandemic.

The Aberdeen One is a new concept, designed for logistics tenants whilst also being able to accommodate the needs from the oil and gas sector. With a practical completion scheduled for July 2021, the first phase of the park is the comprehensive refurbishment of a 70,000 sq ft building to Grade A standard, with 40,000 sq ft already pre-let to FedEx.

Director of KR Group, Kenny Robertson tells us that, “KR Group were challenged to provide a detailed cladding design solution for the existing large warehouses and deliver a high-quality install on a tight programme. In addition to the warehouse cladding, we fabricated and erected a new 2 story office complete with structural decking and architectural wall cladding system. Testament to our motto of ‘Specialists in Challenging Contracts”, we provided a bespoke temporary propping system for the existing structure to allow us to upgrade the framework, making it fit for purpose and to accommodate the new loading bays.”
