Global Vision Sees Turnover Exceed £10 Million

Global Vision Sees Turnover Exceed £10 Million

Revenues at a leading Aberdeen-based electrical group have exceeded £10 million for the first time, thanks to its successful and ongoing globalisation strategy.

AEL, which celebrated its landmark 40th anniversary last year, has grown from its North East roots to become an internationally-recognised group of companies which comprises AEL Aberdeen Limited, AEL Americas Inc and AEL Electrical Mexico S. de R.L de C.V.  They provide first-class electrical and subsea products and services to the onshore, offshore, renewable, petrochemical, marine and industrial sectors.

With revenues spread between overseas and domestic markets, the unique mix of geographic spread, and continuity created by 100% family ownership are cited as key factors in AEL’s enduring success throughout its decades in business.

Whilst the global headquarters remain at AEL Aberdeen in the city’s Bridge of Don area, operations for AEL Americas Inc in and around the US have achieved continued growth whilst the second anniversary of AEL Electrical Mexico has been marked by record growth which tripled year one revenues in 2021.  The company now employs a record number of people across its operations, with the team on track to exceed 50 people in the next few months.

Additionally, a long-term presence in Azerbaijan is providing a springboard for further expansion across the Middle East, including Turkey, whilst emerging opportunities in Norway will be served from the Aberdeen office.

Looking ahead, a range of new distribution agreements is set to further expand the global footprint and an ongoing recruitment drive will further consolidate AEL’s position in its key chosen marketplaces.

AEL CEO Graeme Mackie said: “Aberdeen is still our corporate home and we have been able to take our experience in what is still an important market into many new territories around the world.  This strategy of geographic diversification has ensured steady, organic growth and will continue to stand us in good stead.”

AEL Americas President Alan Mackie added: “By adopting a global view, we have been able to maximise many exciting opportunities.  Pivotal to this is having the right people in place across our locations and we look forward to expanding our team as we look to the future.”

Founded in 1981, AEL is an international brand providing electrical products and services to the onshore, offshore, renewable, petrochemical, marine and industrial sectors.  AEL has the global capability to offer a broad range of electrical products and services. AEL operates from a network of strategically placed international offices as well as its HQ Aberdeen. To find out more, visit www.ael-electrical.com
