Edvard Grieg Barrier Status Panel Enhanced with new ‘Real-Time’ Capabilities

Offshore Oil and Gas digitalisation software provider Eigen, has begun development of a new Realtime context to the Barrier Status Panel functionality at Edvard Grieg. The new feature will be implemented at the platform in the Norwegian North Sea, which is operated by Lundin Energy Norway.

The new phase of the solution will give instant visibility of the impact of realtime signals (such as inhibits or device alerts) on the status of Safety Barriers. Sometimes termed ‘weak signals’ these low level signals can give advance warning of problems when seen in context.

Once complete in August, the system will be the most comprehensive Safety Barrier Management solution on the Norwegian Continental shelf, and possibly worldwide.

The upgrade will further integrate platform data and present it in an easy to understand format, by showing status from multiple different perspectives for direct relevance to the specific personnel examining the status.

Eigen’s pioneering Safety Barrier implementation has already delivered substantial value and solved the complicated challenge around the understanding and management of operational risk. This upgrade is the latest extension of the Eigen Ingenuity Platform, which has been a core component of the Lundin Norway operations group digitalisation initiatives.

Eigen has been one of Lundin’s digitalisation partners for five years. During this time, it has helped Lundin to deliver operations dashboards, real-time visibility of people offshore, two mobile apps, a wearable, a digital meetings and reports facility and the ability to search across multiple systems.
