Aberdeenshire Investment Surpasses £2 Million

A leading provider of integrated logistics solutions has announced that investment in its Aberdeenshire base has now exceeded £2 million.

NorSea UK has spent the sum on an ongoing project to redefine the operating strategy at its busy Peterhead base which focuses on the provision of services to vessels operating in the North Sea.  The company has been a tenant of the town’s Smith Quay since 2014 where activity centres on a weather protected, deep-water berth with quayside laydown and marshalling areas totalling some 16,500m². 

Thanks to an extensive land reclamation project by Peterhead Port Authority, an additional 30,000m² has recently been added to Smith Quay whilst 135m of berthing and 16,000m2 of external storage and quayside laydown has been added at nearby Merchants Quay where the removal of the old fish market building has significantly added to the space available. 

The total invested by NorSea UK comprises an earlier £1.8 million project to install marine gas oil tanks on Smith Quay and, more recently, a £200,000 logistics centre housing new offices, meeting rooms and an internal storage facility has been added to what is rapidly becoming recognised as a leading location from which to service the renewables as well as oil and gas sectors.

Commenting on the investment so far, NorSea UK Country Manager Karen Russell said: “Because we are working with a growing number of offshore and onshore clients, it is important that our facilities evolve in line with their business requirements.

“The implementation of even more stringent controls and procedures in recent weeks mean that we have been able to continue to welcome vessels which service the offshore oil industry and we will work hard to maintain that provision whilst keeping the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors at the top of the agenda at all times.”
