External Relations Manager - Shell UK/ AXIS Network committee member
After graduating from Imperial College in 2002, Pádraig joined Shell, initially working on the Pernis Refinery in the Netherlands in a technical role. After three years in Holland, Pádraig made a significant career move into communications when he moved back to Ireland for the first of two spells working on the Corrib Gas Project. Pádraig has subsequently worked in the US and Canada before moving to Aberdeen in 2012 where he is currently External Relations Manager, UK Upstream. Padraig has been an active member of Shell’s Balance network since 2013 and joined the AXIS Network committee in January 2020. Outside of work Pádraig is a keen golfer, a passion he shares with his young family.
Chairman AFBE-UK Scotland
Ollie is a chartered chemical engineer working in the energy industry and chairman of the award -winning AFBE -UK Scotland and co - founder of AFBE -UK. Ollie graduated with a BEng in Chemical Process Engineering with Fuel Technology from the University of Sheffield in 1999 and then earned a Doctorate (PhD) in Fuels and Combustion from University of Leeds in 2002, authoring five international publications in the field of combustion and engineering. To date Ollie has worked on Major CAPEX Front End Engineering Design, Detailed Design and commissioning Projects.
Ollie has championed successful outreach programmes such as Making Engineering Hot, NextGen (Scotland), Transition and Real Projects and has co-authored three publications on the influence of role models in the transition from academic study to the workplace and on the sustainability of the engineering profession in the UK.
In addition, Ollie has also been involved with a number of successful community initiatives through organizations such as Shell and the Royal Academy of Engineering. Ollie has chaired a number of AFBE -UK annual seminars featuring key industry leaders and politicians and is a regular speaker at events on varied engineering topics. Ollie has participated in all party parliamentary group roundtables on STEM education and he is a member of the All Energy Diversity and Inclusion task group set up in 2019 by Oil and Gas UK.
Executive Vice President, Western Hemisphere
Selma Kivran is Senior Vice President, Western Hemisphere and is based at our office in Alpharetta, Georgia. She has regional responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of EthosEnergy in the Western Hemisphere consisting of North and South America.
After two decades of experience with General Electric’s Energy Business, Selma joined EthosEnergy from Ingersoll Rand Industrial where she spent 2.5 years as the General Manager then Global Commercial Director shaping and delivering significant growth for their Compression Technologies & Services Business.
Selma is Ethos Energy’s Inclusion and Diversity (I&D) Champion and leads the I&D Council to promote all aspects of inclusion, diversity, and equality within our business.
Operations Director - Atkins
Karen Blanc is the People and Operations Director for Atkins' offshore wind, low carbon and oil & gas businesses in the UK. Originating from the north of Scotland, Karen has worked as a process engineer around the world, and is now settled in Aberdeen with her husband and young children. She is a Fellow of the IChemE, a chartered manager, and a champion of modern, inclusive leadership. Since 2019 she has been chair of Aberdeen’s cross-industry gender balance group, AXIS Network, supporting leaders and organisations with establishing fair and equal ways of working for all. At Atkins, she has pioneered the reconstruction of her sector’s people process, shifting career development and promotions from reactive to proactive, ensuring the system now works for and benefits a more inclusive range of people.
